Not only does it teach design, cutting and making skills it also encourages the creative use of an everyday material. I offer several workshops which can be brought into your school or workplace. These can be easily tailored to the age or experience of your group. I have run paper engineering workshops in schools, for award winning print company MOO.com and in collaboration with V&A 'Out of the Ordinary' Exhibition. Some of the crafters at MOO said: Paper workshops are great, it shows there’s more to paper than printing out pictures of cats! Sometimes it’s nice to take your eyes away from the monitor and channel your creativity on something physical. Papercraft is awesome! Listed below are the workshops I currently offer. Participants learn how to extend and customise these mechanisms using paper cutting skills. Different levels of complexity are available to cater for differing ages and levels of experience. Participants will leave with two custom made pop-up cards complete with handmade envelopes. Dating back to the middle ages, Mummers Plays were once performed all over the world. When used to celebrate the Winter Solstice or Christmas, these short folk plays often depicted a fight between summer and winter and ended with the resurrection of the slain character by a quack doctor. Bands of Mummers would perform the play around their village to raise extra money for their families. The costumes would vary from place to place and it was common for people to obscure their faces with masks.
